This is a very popular walk. The route is mainly beside the lake, then leaving it uses part of the Three Shires Way. After wet weather the paths can be muddy. A useful aid on this walk are binoculars as there are many water birds to be seen on the lake. In the car park there is a cafe and also a place to hire cycles, as there is an excellent cycle route around the whole lake area. There is also a cafe and shop. The cafe is open until March 18th: Mondays Thursdays and Fridays, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturdays/Sundays - 11 a.m. to 4p.m. after that we understand it is open 7 days a week - 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
