From Middleton by Yougreave the route follows a quiet lane. Turning onto a serene, ancient and narrow lane views over to the left are extensive. After a while a slight deviation to Kenslow Knoll can be made. (info on the internet). This has recently been made a Heritage site. Complete with panoramic views, and an indication plynth for surrounding places of interest. Then a lovely walk down Long Dale and Gratton Dale. These are two of Derbyshire's lesser known dales, thus a quiet walk is guarranteed.

A couple of stone curiosities are passed also. (see additional info 'A' and 'B'). The walking is easy with a few easily negotiated hilly bits. The rest of the walk includes scenic views, and rich meadow land.

Very good walk but note that this very wet winter plus the cows grazing has turned the path through Gratton Dale into foot deep mud making for hard going on this section.

Walk updated January 2006, hopefully clarifying that particular point.

Point 21 - sorry but we got a little lost here and had to head across country. (Probably because it was getting dark!) Lovely walk though. Thanks
