From the top car park on the outskirts of Grazalema, we begin with a long meandering climb up the eastern side of the imposing Penon Grande. Next we descend into the mountain valley called Llanos Edrinal, where there are cattle pens and rocky pastures. We climb again to reach the mountain pastures at Puerto de las Presillas and then begin a meandering, rocky descent via an interesting limestone oven to bring us to the lookout point or mirador at Puerto del Boyar which has the most stunning panoramas. From here we follow the well-made and popular track called the Camino de los Charcones, which takes us back down to Grazalema following the course of the Rio Guadalete.

Tried to do this walk in early March but were barred as there was hunting in progress. It is quite a frequent occurrence in the winter months. Ironically we would have been fine the following day!. If possible, check in advance.
