Great Wishford – Ditchampton – Hunt's Down – Burcombe – Hadden Hill – Great Wishford

Starting from the Royal Oak at Great Wishford, you will walk to the church to check the price of bread. From there, wind your way up Heath Hill to join the Roman road through Heath Wood, then downhill to the village of Ditchhampton. After crossing the River Nadder it's uphill again over Hunt's Down to the ox drove, the farthest point. Return, with good views over the Nadder Valley as you walk downhill, to Burcombe. From there continue in the same northerly direction, still enjoying the views over the open farmland. On meeting the Roman road again, follow it for about three-quarters of a mile through the woods before branching out to return to Great Wishford.

Seven of us on a walking weekend did this route on 19th May 2012 and very much enjoyed it. The avenue of trees on the Roman road was spectacular. We debated some directions (the blue sign at waymark 26 was one) but had no real problems with route finding. We sadly missed the pie shop at Manor Farm but it might not be there now.

Very pleasant walk - did it on 28/12/106. The instructions are clear and easy to follow. Useful to know that at Manor Farm (17/18) there is a nice little farm shop that sells delightful pork pies! On waymark 25 the blue sign seems to be on a tree on the left.
