At Grindleford Station just at the start of the walk is the original station building, worth a visit as there are some old pictures and of course a cup of tea. Walk via Padley Chapel to the boundary of the Longshaw Estate, turning right along the wall to the old incline. After a steep ascent the ruins of the old winding house are reached. Follow the path left and after a bit of climbing it will take you up to the road onto the moors and Carl Wark; more information at

Climb Higger Tor and then go onto Stanage Edge, magnificent views all around. Leave Stanage Edge via the Buck Stone, more information on

Back in arable farming country again, follow the paths, lane and track into Bamford, pub and shops, finally walking over the fields back to the station.
