We leave Heddon on the Wall to follow the path down to the banks of the River Tyne where we pass through Newburn Country park. As we approach Newcastle we pass behind the industrial estates before crossing over the A1.

Continuing on we rejoin the banks of the Tyne to follow the route along the Quayside where plaques along the route describe the areas heritage. We pass under all the Tyne bridges with a chance to visit the new Millennium bridge before leaving Newcastle and heading out along a disused railway line that takes us to Wallsend and the end of this long distance path.

For those who have collected their stamps on the passport cards, here is the last stamping station, where the card can then be exchanged with a few 'coins' for a badge and certificate to commemorate the walk.
