Starting from Downs Road by Hardwick Parks, this wonderfully scenic walk skirts several lakes in a huge nature reserve before visiting the village of Standlake with its superb 13th Century church. Quite a large village, Standlake has many handsome dwellings and there is a large arena nearby where motor sports and other events regularly take place.

On our way home today (27-11-16) we tried this walk. Slightly disappointing start bu a run down water sports centre followed by a stretch on a fast busy road with few grass verges to walk on. We then never found point 4 despite following the directions and then asking a local fisherman who could not help. The aggregate plant has expanded so perhaps the route has changed. After trying to locate the onward route for 20 minutes we gave up and retraced our steps to the start point. We did not have time to try the walk the other way round. A pity as we have always found walking world guides very useful.
