This walk takes on a very rural aspect through open countryside immediately upon leaving the main village street of Hellidon. Over fields and meadows, crossing streams and ditches, it takes an upward route to pass Catesby House, climbing still further to reach Upper Catesby. The views are marvellous over far-reaching distances and the babbling brooks and the ponds, both natural and man-made, add to the delight of this super little walk.

NB regarding Direction 5 Grid ref:SP516588Lat:52.2253673Long:-1.24577 ..... Over it, go forward to climb a bank and continue on rough ground, and through a small wooded area. Look for a stile and footbridge below that leads out into a meadow and walk on towards another stile in view. Unfortunately at this point the route is completely overgrown with brambles which have grown across the path so that you cannot get through. We were forced to backtrack and walk across private fields until we were able to pick the route up again Also - if you are not keen on cows this is a walk to avoid as it includes several large fields full of them!

My wife and I completed this walk on 20.08.11. The walk directions do not match the available rights of way about 1 mile into the walk. Fortunately I was using a Satmap and eventually found our way round to the rights of way paths but had to go acroos private land to do so, please be aware that the directions just after crossing the stream are very confusing. It turned out to be a pleasant walk but there have been a few changes along the route.

Thank you to the kind member sending in this feedback. I'm afraid your identity has been lost please get in touch so we can thank you personally. Chris, administrator.

We did this walk last Sunday (16 March) and tried to follow directions....quite confusing. Images posted are not up to date...so would suggest to anyone doing this walk to be careful as you could take a wrong route (there are other footpaths that intermingle with this route)... we got a little lost and ended walking 7 miles as opposed to 5!! Having said that we really enjoyed the views and the village of Hellidon and other nearby village are beautiful and so peaceful... not a person in sight!
