This scenic circular walk is along footpaths which are frequently used; so navigation will be easy. The outward part is gently uphill, taking you almost to the top of Helsby Hill; and the return route is gently downhill, finishing with a section of the famous Sandstone Trail. There are numerous kissing gates, a few flat gates, several timber bridges but no stiles. There are several fields of crops and one is shown in this photo. The paths are fenced off along meadows which may contain farm animals, so they won't be bothering you.

The walk is probably suitable for children, senior citizens and anyone in-between; and excellent for dogs. It should be okay for buggies in summer when there'll be no ploughed fields; provided you can cope with the kissing gates. However it will be extremely difficult for even adventurous wheelchair users. Suitable footwear will be anything flat soled but boots will be best and there should be no problems for anyone wearing shorts in summer. Apart from the occasional bench seats there are no facilities on this route.
