Starting from Hemingstone Church, you head west on field-edge paths, both arable and meadow. You then turn south to walk right across the magnificent and extensive Shrubland Estate, where fallow deer can be seen. After a stretch of a third of a mile of minor road you enter the estate again, to re-cross it by another route. After reaching Coddenham there is a short stretch on a beautiful path along the inside edge of a belt of woodland to return to the start. There are seven stiles to cross on the route, none of them difficult. There are no pubs on the line of the walk.
