Higher Poynton lies on the fringe of the Peak District as well as of Manchester, an old coalmining area, its canal and railway both turned to recreational uses. This walk explores both of these in a now tranquil landscape with glimpses of the hills beyond. The route is fairly level and is easy to follow, being well-signposted throughout.
