Starting with a delightful, wooded canal cutting this circular walk takes in a long length of the canal before passing through a wide variety of countryside delights. The paths are all excellent with no stiles, kissing gates or narrow footbridges. Suitable for walking at any time of the year and there is only one easy latched gate to pass through, which makes the route excellent for dogs and there are several poo bins along the route. The slopes are not very steep and from the path along by the wood at the top of the hill there is an excellent panoramic view across to distant Warrington. Near the end of the walk, you will find yourself back on the towpath admiring a line of colourful moored boats. (Photo on the right). This walk includes instructions for walkers from moored canal boats.

The walk is suitable for children, teenagers, senior citizens and anyone in-between. Excellent for dogs, and walkers with buggies should be able to cope easily with the few steps along the route. In fact, with the assistance of a small team of helpers it will even be good in summer for wheelchairs. Suitable footwear will be anything flat soled, but boots will be best in winter and there should be no problems for anyone wearing shorts in summer. There are no picnic tables or bench seats on the route, and the only facilities are to be found in the excellent pub at the start and finish of the walk. If you book in advance, you should be able to get a good meal and a drink; an excellent finish to a good walk.
