A demanding walk with frequent climbs and descents, the last descent on the return route being really quite steep. Following a wide loop on the outward route, the return is more direct, though still with some steep climbs.

Most of the paths were clear when walked, with only the way through a farmyard on the return being confusing, as some new farm buildings had been erected since last walking this area. Also a small gate had been fitted across the line of the path beside the farm, making it appear more private.

The pub used on this walk is The Red Lion in Waterfall; they are walker-friendly and request that muddy boots are removed or covered. They now only open at lunchtime on Saturday and Sunday, with evenings only through the week. They offer a good choice of food on the menu, though prices are becoming more expensive. Their sandwiches are good value, though some combinations could be an acquired taste. The choice of drinks has extended from the Bass they usually offer, with Alton Peakstones Rock beers being offered as guest beers too. 'Nemesis' was offered when walked.
