Ilam Park – Thorpe – Lin Dale – Bunster Hill – Ilam Park

This is a short but varied walk from the lovely Staffordshire village of Ilam. The route follows the River Manifold to the village of Thorpe, then down Lin Dale and into Dovedale. A steep ascent of Bunster Hill takes us along one of the Peak District's finest ridges back to Ilam. The walk makes a good morning's outing followed by lunch in the Manifold Tea Rooms at Ilam Country Park. For the more energetic there is also the option of climbing Thorpe Cloud en route.

We did this walk in January 2022. I have two comments. 1. The National Trust car park at Iilam Hall is CASH only for either £3.50 or £5.00. NT members with their card are free. 2. Between waymark 3 and 4 the ground is very muddy and really badly chewed up. Take care and wear good walking boots.
