The walk starts out from Wallsend and passes the Segedunum Roman History Museum. You will follow the Coast to Coast Cycle Route to Tynemouth. Fine views of the river open up, with a chance to see at close quarters the work in progress in the shipyards and oil rig production platform yards. The river traffic can be observed and on arrival at the North Shields quay the fish market can display a wide variety of sea life. You will climb out of the Tyne Harbour area and on past the impressive Admiral Lord Collingwood Monument. You will now drop down into Tynemouth Haven, with the opportunity to walk along North Pier (weather permitting). Your path is up past the priory and castle to walk along the seafront with impressive views to the north. Cullercoats, Whitley Bay, St Mary's and Blyth open out before you.
