A lovely walk through pine trees bordering the shoreline of Kielder Water. Crossing onto the peninsula of Belling Crag, a 50ft high sandstone wall of an old quarry, now partly submerged due to the reservoir, we are rewarded with excellent views across the water as well as the back of the dam and up onto the Border Hills. Returning, we pass the old Falstone Drift Mine sadly closed, with the small yard used for storage and a few relics as ornaments outside. Back at the car park, there is a chance for you to walk along the top of the dam or view the water 'run off' carefully monitored to supply Tyneside with its water and keep the fish stocks healthy in the river below.
