Kilcot is within the area of The Forest of Dean. On this walk we do not pass through much woodland but we do get spectacular views. When you reach the top of the field after Waymark 10, look back to see the view to Gloucester. After Waymark 12 the view is towards the Marcle Ridge and the Malverns. If you are lucky you will see three or four Hercules planes on their way home.

The last third of this walk (from Clifford's Mesne) is quite pretty. But unfortunately the rest is rather average. Quite a few gates were locked and required clambering over. The B4221 at Kilcot is a very busy road. We made a diversion up to May Hill which was probably the highlight of our walk. Good pubs at both Kilcot and Clifford Mesne.
