The walk starts at the higher end of Sandygate and follows the long country lanes through many twist and turns to reach Lowell House, just outside Chudleigh near the much-climbed Chudleigh Rocks. Once in Chudleigh a slight diversion will take you into the town centre. There are signs of settlements like Castle Dyke, an Iron Age hill-fort. After leaving Chudleigh, another great area is Ugbrooke House, which has been owned by the Clifford family for the last 400 years and has recently been the subject of the television programme 'Country House Sunday; on ITV. Then it is along the road and just before the dual carriageway flyover on the left is part of the Old Roman Road towards Exeter. To return to the start you trek down a very long track getting narrower as you go, then finally walk down the Ideford Combe Valley with its canopy of trees and bushes.

Excellent easy to follow instructions. The walk would be a good winter walk as it is on tarmac a lot of the time - not so good for a hot summer's day ! Also a little confused with the intro information - Height Gain 0 metres - as the walk involves some climbs.
