Knebworth - Knebworth House - Knebworth Park - Old Knebworth - Knebworth

Knebworth House has been in the ownership of the Lytton family since the 15th Century. (The saying that the pen is mightier than the sword was coined by a one-time owner). Concerts and other events are staged in the grounds at various times throughout the year, but as the walk stays on public footpaths throughout, this does not prevent access or incur any admission charge. The grounds of the park contain a fair number of deer and we were able to walk quite close to them, despite our having two dogs.

The map has now been fixed. Thanks to Mark and Ken for pointing out the error.

You are quite right, Mark. The W5 is incorrectly placed on the map.

My first walk in Hertfordshire and a good one to aquaint myself with the farmland between Welwyn and Hitchin. Two sightings of deer - one wild herd and one maintained herd at Knebworth House. Point to note - I have a feeling WP5 on the map is not located correctly as it should lie on the B656 rather than the minor road as indicated. Also, I feel the distance is nearer 5 miles than 6 as indicated by my GPS. The directions were superb and really easy to follow!
