A short camino drive brings us to the start and we will follow an exhilarating mountain track, sometimes through pine-woods, high above the Rio Segura Valley. We will pass a point from which it is possible to ascend to the Cerro de los Puestos (1,788 metres), recognizable from its antennae. The views apparently are breathtaking. We did not test this diversion, which adds 3.5 kilometres to the route. Later we will climb to the Puntal de las Buitreras (1,680m) from where we can look into the valley below and see the hamlet of La Toba on the other side. Later we shall return by a beautiful parallel route before rejoining our original outward way.

We were delighted to have the opportunity or re-walking this spectacular hike nearly 16 years after we first put it up. There has been some deterioration in the condition of the return leg but the footpaths are quite clear and manageable. There are no navigational changes and the map and some pictures have been updated.
