Much of this walk is in a beautiful and fertile valley which contrasts with the trackless and almost featureless moorland plateau around the summit. Both in the lowland and the upland areas, there's plenty of wildlife to see if you keep your eyes open. Some of the paths used in this route are invisible on the ground, so it's a good opportunity to exercise your skill at route-finding with a compass. A shorter version avoids the section with tricky route-finding and is easier underfoot.

Llanarmon is blessed with two very well-regarded pubs: The Hand and The West Arms.

Did this walk on 3/7/2011.Lovely mixed walk with woods, moors, fields and lanes to walk along.Views over the valleys and towards the Berwyns really superb. Navigation on the moors was a lot easier than expected. On the fields before the moors sections we met the farmer and his wife who were really nice people and welcomed walkers as long as they closed gates behind them etc.
