Car Park - Llangatock Escarpment - Lonely Shepherd - Escarpment - Car Park

With this walk you get all the fantastic views without too much effort. The tracks are good and the climbing is at the start of the walk. Walk 1354 also goes to the Lonely Shepherd. Whereas that walk needs all day and explores Llangynydyr Mountain, this walk needs half a day and much less effort. The walking is fairly easy but the rewards are great. From the tramline the views encompass the length of the Black Mountains. Look out for stones with holes drilled in them; these are stone sleepers and are relics of the old tramway.

Walked 05.09.2015. A stunning walk with good directions and fine vistas!. 10/10. (leaving comment in 2021 due to only just getting round to editing pictures!).

A lovely walk, fantastic views, but if you arrive in a larger vehicle e.g. campervan or minibus it is VERY much easier to approach the start point from the opposite direction. Take the unclassified road off the A4047 in Brynmawr. Keep left at every junction until reaching the car park.
