After crossing the canal, follow the old tram track to reach the base of the inclines. These worked by gravity to carry the stone from the quarries at the top to the canal, for transport to the ironworks. The climb up the first incline is taxing, but the views from the tramway make it all worthwhile. The second incline is easier. Return along a pretty stretch of the Brecon Canal.

Very enjoyable walk, nice and long. But we had issues at marker 3 as the path was flooded. Also, the stiles are not dog friendly. We struggled to get our big dog over them and would've turned back if we weren't so far along the walk

Really enjoyed this walk. The steep section after 3 is a challenge but well worth it, don't be put off. However, what we found difficult were the two stiles. We have a large dog and we managed to get him over the stile at marker 3. We could not get him over the one at marker 6. The steps were slippy and narrow and the style was high. We walked directly to marker 9 instead. Probably easier if it's dry.
