This walk in lower Mid-Wales explores lesser-known parts of the Wye Valley. The river is particularly lovely here. Once up on Mynydd FForest the views are far-reaching and Brechfa Common and Brechfa Pool are of particular interest to birdwatchers. Between Waymarks 6 and 8, look out for a tiny blue flower on the ground under the bracken. This is the ivy-leaved bellflower and is like tiny blue stars. I had not seen it before, even though it is listed as 'frequent' in Wales.

Completed this walk on 07/10/2013. It is very enjoyable and easy to follow however just a couple of comments regarding navigation. At waymark 6 there is no longer a footpath sign and, whilst we managed to locate the intended route, the bracken is now completely overgrown and you cannot continue as it has obliterated the path. We followed the road as suggested however it should be noted that at waymark 8 the "stony" track is now completely grassed over. Not an issue as you can locate it via the photo. At waymark 10, the fingerpost is missing on the left. Just continue ahead on the obvious path and ensure you don't take another higher route which is on the right at the point the fingerpost would roughly be - the higher route mentioned in the directions is really just straight ahead and is noted by the contributor to avoid dropping to a lower level and following a path next to the tree line.
