Loch Farr is nine miles out of Inverness, in the Nairn Valley. Much of the walk is through stands of pine, spruce and larch; but there are lots of good views.
The track can be very muddy, so boots, or wellies, are advised.

The section from Waymark 3 to 6 is the boggiest; and here the path is not always obvious - you have to look about for it, aided by stick markers thoughtfully put in by the rangers.

There are two nice picnic spots by the shore at Waymarks 4 and 10.

This walk passes close to, but not through, a paintball centre. Admittance is not prohibited, the sign mentioned has been misinterpreted, but if concerned please call ahead on 01463 772188 to check if a game is planned during your visit.

There is a sign between waypoint 1 and 2 now which says no admittance during paintballing sessions. Also found some traps laid which I have reported, but which may catch out a dog off the lead.
