The early part of the riverside walk is above a gorge with tumbling rapids; this changes to flat, wide salmon pools with several groynes. When you leave the river the path is narrower but good and climbs gently through the pass, then descends more steeply to Glencanisp Lodge. (The lodge has been acquired by the community and is let out to groups (shooting, fishing, study groups; there is an information office near the car park). The last part of the walk is on a quiet country road.
