This little walk in Buckinghamshire is a mixture of footpaths, bridleways and quiet country roads. It starts from near the church in the attractive village of Ludgershall and takes a minor road to another part of the parish, before leaving it on footpaths in lovely countryside. The small setting of Wotton Underwood is approached on a hard-laid path which passes the magnificent Wotton House in its wonderful surroundings. The estate is quite extensive and includes a cluster of charming cottages and a large area of beautiful parkland. There follows a lengthy stretch on a country road that runs between dense and peaceful woodland and eventually returns to Ludgershall. The architecture in these parts is of red brick, very appealing and individual. There are no great heights to contend with, just a gradual incline on Windmill Hill, just before Wotton, so this walk is suitable for those not wanting too strenuous an exercise in the great outdoors.

We did this walk in February 2017 - it's a good walk and Wotton House is the highlight, especially the backward looking panorama highlighted in Waypoint 10. Couple of navigational amendments: Waypoint 2 - the common ground is now fenced off, so take the obvious metal gate to the right in place of a fork Waypoint 3 - we encountered one field fully ploughed over, footpath and all, just before WP 4 and south of the wood. It had power lines running across the field in the direction of walking. We followed these across the field then turned left up to the NE corner to rejoin the footpath
