Starting from the bustling centre of Ludlow, the walk crosses the river and climbs into the mixed woodland of Mortimer Forest. The route follows short sections of the Mortimer Trail and then other marked trails within the forest.

Dropping down into the seclusion of Mary Knoll Valley, you return to Ludlow via another bridge over the river.

Ludlow itself is a very attractive market town with historical buildings in practically every street, an imposing castle and a reputation for good food and drink.

We wanted a walk to do en-route to another destination, and so chose this as it wasn't too long, and looked like it would be on good tracks/paths, as we didn't want to get too mud splattered, This walk fitted the bill, and was just right. Lovely views, easy tracks, easy to follow, with the added bonus of a quick look around Ludlow too.We were a bit pushed for time, so decided to cut the corner off and went from point 7 straight down the Mortimer Trail to point 14 just to save a bit of time, which gives another option to this lovely walk.We will go back one day and do it in full as we really enjoyed it .

Walked this March 2012. Good walk - not taxing - would be even better on a dry and warm day!

Very steep parts! Awesome views though.
