Maidenhall - Rodway Hill Covert- Bridge Farm - Meredith - Hignam Woods - Hignam Court and church - Maidenhall

From Maidenhall, you head across fields to a small stretch of woodland, before joining the bank of a railway line. This takes you to a church (passing a little piece of industrial heritage en route). An optional detour to a church with a Norman arch is followed by a further spell on the old railway line. This takes you to a road with a curious monument. From there cross more fields to pass a village with a house with a walled garden. More fields take you to woods. From here to Hignam where, if you pick the right day, you can visit both a church with all-Victorian features and a great garden (with tea!) and then back to the start.

We did this walk yesterday, 31st August 2018. A lovely walk. It took us 3 hours. Unfortunately no pubs along the way. One field had been ploughed to the hedge line... Thanks mister farmer. Fortunately for us it was a dry walk. Would be VERY muddy in the winter. Highly recommend it.

This is a great walk, if a little muddy at this time of year! I took a couple of wrong turns, so thought I'd leave these tips: At waymark 17 where the instructions say to veer right, don't follow the path into the wood, rather stay in the field with the wood to your right. At waymark 25, be careful not to turn too soon - there is more than one gap in the hedge.
