The walk starts by passing the famous Malham Tarn - source of the River Aire - at the Malham Tarn Field Centre. It then takes the ancient trackway 'Monks Road' a short distance over the rocky high ground above the tarn. From here, another footpath takes us over to the Cowside Beck Valley, with excellent views of Fountains Fell beyond.

After a short walk along a quiet road, we pick up the Pennine Way and follow it back to the start.

Dog-walkers please note the presence of livestock and some dog-unfriendly stiles.

I'd forgotten just how good the scenery was around Malham! Super short walk. I'll definitely be trying other Malham walks around here.

A terrific walk very easy to follow. We started from Streetgate and walked down the stone track to join the walk at point 6 on the guide. Adds a little bit but gives some more views over the tarn.
