Starting at the quarry car park on The Ridge at Marple, this walk offers a route along both the Peak Forest and Macclesfield Canals in Marple; a stroll through Barlow Wood, a broadleaved woodland designated as a Site of Biological Importance (SBI), using the Roman bridge to cross the River Goyt and join the Goyt Way along to the Roman Lakes with its facilities; and an opportunity to look at the site of Mellor Hall and Wellington Wheel-pit. The route returns you along the canal toll-path to Bridge 5, where you take the road into Hawk Green and the facilities of The Crown Inn and play park. Take the footpath back up to the Methodist church and its views and continue back to the start point. This walk offers the opportunity to find several caches on the route, see details on geocaching website (www.geocaching.com)
