The walk starts at the National Trust car park near the railway station and goes east along the canal. After the canal is crossed the route turns west along a quiet lane before climbing to moorland tracks. It goes further west to a moorland crossing before dropping to visit a pack-horse bridge. A river is followed eastwards to the tunnel entrance, café and Visitor Centre, from which there is a twenty-minute walk back to the start along the canal.
