Although this walk starts in Suffolk, much of it is also in Essex. Melford Country Park, formerly known as Rodbridge Picnic Site, is an ideal place to start and finish the walk. As well as free parking, it has a toilet block and picnic tables and is often visited by a mobile coffee van.

You will get a chance to visit two churches, with the one at Borley supposedly being the most haunted in the UK. There is no pub on this walk, but 100 yards from the start is the Nethergate Brewery with a shop and a bar for refreshments.

If you wanted to extend the walk and start at Sudbury Station, you could follow the Stour Valley Path which would extend the route by four miles.
