The walk starts at Milford Common and goes south, reaching the highest point on this part of Cannock Chase before dropping to visit the Katyn Memorial, the Commonwealth War Cemetery and the German War Cemetery. The route turns northward, goes along the Sherbrook Valley, passing the much photographed stepping-stones on its way back to Milford Common. There are no stiles and the ground is entirely on tracks, just a few muddy in places and with distant views on the outward leg. There is a convenient café just by the Katyn Memorial.
