This is a walk just outside the Peak District National Park, between the towns of Mossley and Stalybridge. It starts at the car park for the railway station before following some suburban roads to reach the Huddersfield Narrow Canal. The walk continues along the towpath and then along a suburban road to reach the River Tame, which is followed before returning to the canal. It then continues alongside the canal and through the Scout Tunnel to reach a rural road. From the canal the route climbs along two rural roads before crossing a railway line to reach a major road, which is followed for a few metres before using footpaths and lanes to reach the edge of an estate. The route carries on downhill through the middle of the estate to reach the park. From the park the route climbs again following footpaths to reach a rural road, which is followed to reach the highest point of the walk. From the highest point it is downhill for the final kilometre, following footpaths and some urban roads to reach the start point.
