The Nagshead RSPB Nature Reserve near Parkend is home to many birds and insects, notably pied flycatchers. There is a variety of habitats, ancient woodland as well as ponds and scrubland. The new visitor centre is only open at weekends, but has notice-boards outside listing current bird sightings.
