Nant Peris - Llyn Y Cwn - Glyder Mountain Range - Dinorwig Slate Mine - Nant Peris

From the valleys at the base of Snowdon on Llanberis Pass, starting from Nant Peris (Old Llanberis), this walk takes you up the steep slopes of Y Garn along the falls of Afon Las and up to Llyn Y Cwn, where you can enjoy your packed lunch. From here you climb again up to the peaks and ridges of the Glyder Mountain Range.

First stop is Y Garn at over 3,000 feet, then it's on to Goel Goch. Third is Mynydd Perfedd and finally it's Carnedd Y Filiast, before steeply descending to the track which winds its way past the Electric Mountain upper reservoir Marchlyn Mawr, then continuing down to the massive Dinorwig Slate Mine, where the walk takes you back in time through the bowels of the old workings along a safe path. Here you can explore and relive the miners' footsteps. With awe-inspiring slate backdrops, old buildings and old machinery, you continue through the heart of the mine before following the old miners' path back down to the Llanberis Pass, to finish where there is a nice pub to enjoy a well-deserved meal and drink.
