Starting about 500m from the town centre towards Stowmarket at Hill House Lane, the walk quickly gains open country. A series of farm tracks and grassy field margins, though with one challenging section, lead round via Ringshall Hall and Moats Tye back to Needham.

The start and route up to Waymark 5 rerouted August 2020 to avoid the difficulties found earlier in the year.

I've done numerous walks on here but found the instructions confusing in places. At waymark 3,you follow the grassy margin left then right,then through a hedge gap,carry straight on,turn left and right again to arrive at the path alongside the fence. This path is now fully overgrown, so walk along the open grass track on the right beside it. This joins up to the end of the original path. Turn left to continue the walk. When you bear right down the slope towards the trees,at the bottom you need to then bear left to reach the narrow lane.At waymark 5,the 1st marker i found on the right took me over a wooden bridge,there was no fence,so backtracked and there was no other marker. Here I decided to call it a day.
