Some of Oxfordshire's fine countryside is to be savoured on this walk, firstly along a section of the South Oxford Canal between Nell Bridge and Wharf Farm Bridge, beautifully peaceful and rural. Field-paths lead to Clifton, a very pretty little village, the buildings with rustic appeal. Some road-walking follows to reach the edge of Deddington, where the route takes Earls Lane before a footpath with lovely scenery and interesting land contours. Outlying farms and cottages add their own charm and flavour and the last leg is through a golf course with superb aspects for participants. The final few yards is along the road to reach the lay-by again, where stands Nell Bridge House and Farm with just a short distance between and the bridge and lock of the same name, a little further on.

Nice walk, only slightly spoilt by the amount of road walking. At point 5-6 there is a good track to walk on, but the distance back to Nell Bridge at point 14 involves walking close to some fast moving traffic for 1/2 mile or so.
