A lovely secluded walk both starting and finishing at a traditional English village pub, the walk has some great views and is full of interesting and surprising scenes and places.

Trekking through some of the beautiful hidden interior of the island, this circular walk passes a secluded lake, hidden waterfall and long-abandoned homestead.

The walk is still quite hard to follow from the instructions. I had a Garmin but I certainly recommend having a map. It was a lovely walk. The pub in Niton (White Lion) is open again and also Joeys bar and cafe. Another option is at Note 12, walk along the road but instead of turning right to retrace steps, continue until a footpath on the left. Follow paths to Whitwell. Eat in the White Horse pub - excellent food, dogs welcome. Return to Niton via Ashknowle Lane accessed next to the Church. There are lots of sheep on this route. It is not good with dogs.

Looking into doing this walk in April 2017 and investigating possible eating places. I do believe that the White Lion is closed.Pity.

A very nice walk. Waterfall was in fine flow and was fantastic to see. The instructions were a little out but we managed to get round even without a map as I left it behind and only had the instruction sheet. Family had a great time. Was very wet and very steep hills.

Thanks to Roy Davenport for the updates on this 'very pleasant walk', October 2008.

Very pleasant walk, however the directions were more than a little sketchy and confusing. More detail definitely needed.
