This walk starts on the main route from Rochdale to Blackburn in Norden which has easy access for both driving and public transport. The first section follows the course of Naden Brook downstream before crossing a rural lane. It continues downstream on a 'roller coaster' path through woodland to reach a residential caravan park. It then climbs through some woodland to follow a footpath above the course of Cheesden Brook before crossing towards a third brook (Mill Croft Brook) via fields and farm tracks. A section of the footpath above the Cheesden Brook is along the top of steep cliffs. See WM13 for further details.
The last part of the walk passes through a small hamlet before walking down an urban road to the end. It follows parts of the Rochdale Way on both the outward and return legs. You can see reminders of the past and also some of the wind turbines on Scout Moor.
This walk can be combined with walk id 7917 or walk ID 7939 to make a walk of 15 to 16 kilometres for those who prefer longer walks.
