This walk starts on the main route from Rochdale to Blackburn in Norden which has easy access for both driving and public transport.
The first section follows the main road towards Rochdale before following some side streets and footpaths through woodland to reach a country lane. After a section along the lane (split into three waymarks because of name changes) you cross fields to reach an old chapel. From the chapel the walk crosses a stream and fields to reach some rural lanes before crossing the main road to reach Red Lumb.
After walking through the hamlet you follow a lane up, around a bend, passing a house at the top of the hill, and back downhill to reach another rural lane. This rural lane is followed back down to reach the main road again. After crossing the road there is then a short section through a residential area followed by a footpath and road back to the start point. You follow part of the Rochdale Way.
