Penybont Car Park - Craig allt - goch - Esgair Perfedd - Crug1 Ci - Penybont Car Park

The Elan Valley is Wales' own Lake District. The area was flooded to provide water for Birmingham's growing population, but it now gives pleasure to thousands who come to enjoy the peace and the red kites. On this walk we follow the Elan Valley Trail past Penygarreg Reservoir to reach Craig Goch Dam. The walk continues up and over Esgair Perfedd, with its wide views over the lakes. After dropping down to the mountain road the walk then climbs up Crugyn Ci, with its views over Rhayader and beyond. Finally it is downhill all the way to the car park.

4/24/2017 - John Acord

We did this walk on a wet day in April 2017, just to mention that there is no longer a marker post at waypoint 7 so care should be taken to keep on the right track. Also the stile at waypoint 11 has now been replaced with a gate.
