This walk north of Pickering crosses the relatively new Woodlands parkland. The public footpath leaves the park over agricultural land to cross land owned by the Duchy of Lancaster - even though we are in Yorkshire! We then enter the Duchy's woodland to continue north before the path turns south at the boundary of the North York Moors National Park. At Waymark 09 the walk may be easily shortened by 3km if needs must, by using one field-path to get back to the car park. The full walk though, crosses the A169 road at the North York Moors National Park boundary and we walk the length of Howl Dale Wood on a track before heading back to Pickering. If you enjoy walking in woodland amongst birdsong, where you will likely see wild deer, this is the walk for you.
