The many caves in the area are regularly frequented by cavers. The caves are varied and interesting but should not be entered unless you are a knowledgeable caver, or in an organised party. And only then in settled weather. Port-yr-Ogof deserves special mention because it is so easily reached. Its grandeur can be glimpsed from the walk. Whilst much of it is a beginners cave it has dangerous areas of deep and cold water. The downstream exit is especially dangerous. Warning signs should be heeded as fatalities have occurred in the dangerous parts.
