The walk starts in the town of Radcliffe which has easy access for both driving and public transport. It starts at an unmade road before following two roads and a track to reach the disused Manchester, Bolton and Bury canal. The canal is followed for approx 1.3 kilometres to reach the edge of a residential area in Little Lever. It then passes through this area to reach a section including woodland, a path across a field and farm tracks to reach a second residential area. After passing through this area there is then a section through woodland and above a stream before crossing into the edge of Ainsworth, Bury. The next section follows some farm tracks and rural roads, passing a trig point, to reach a section across several fields and through a farm yard. The final section is through a residential area using roads and footpaths to reach the start point.
