Rascafria and the Carro del Diablo (The Devil's Chariot) There-and-Back

We begin in the Plaza Espanya of the popular little town of Rascafria and head out of town briefly along the road that would lead us to the Monastery El Paular. We take a fork right climbing out of the town and passing the social centre, the swimming-pool and helicopter landing zone. Very soon we are meandering through lovely open country briefly with amazing views. Next, we enter oakwoods and continue gently upwards following very clear pathways. Towards the end, we enter pine woods and very soon are surrounded by huge boulders. At last, we arrive at the unmistakable Carro del Diablo. From here we simply retrace our footsteps in an easy downwards ramble back to Rascafria.
