This is a short but energetic walk on the edge of Newport and also one of my favourite cross-country runs!
Joining the waymarked Sirhowy Valley Walk, the route climbs through fields and woodland to reach a ridge high above the Rhymney and Ebbw Valleys – the views across the latter to Twmbarlwm are particularly noteworthy. The way down is across fields above the Rhymney Valley, with more splendid views to be savoured.
