The path is good all the way, on grass and with no really muddy bits. There are many examples of marine erosion: sculptured rocks, rocky headlands, an old sea cave and small sandy beaches. It's a colourful walk, between the blue of the sea and the yellow of masses of gorse and broom flowers. On a clear day you can see to the Cairngorms.
At the end of the walk there are refreshments in Balintore and a big sandy beach at Shandwick (these two villages are joined to Hilton).
