Situated close to the Staffordshire / Cheshire border between Leek and Macclesfield, Ruston Spencer is the start point for this pleasant walk. After a short distance on the Staffordshire Way you join the Gritstone Trail then the Dane Valley Way to follow the River Dane upstream. The river is left adjacent to two spectacular weirs and the walk continues across pleasant countryside back to Rushton Spencer.

Enjoyed this walk, nice gentle stroll with some lovely views. My dog was able to be off the lead for most of the walk, instructions easy to follow - on point 8, as you "head directly to the farm ahead" I think the owner has made this even better - the right of way is through the gate in the bottom left hand corner of the farm fence this leaves a small piece of grass to cross to gain the access road (avoiding most of the buildings). Time duration is accurate. Thanks Phil & Sue Eptlett
